June & July’s Haul
I’m back from a 2ish month hiatus.
A real life photo from my real life house of real life anime girls.
Life has been exceedingly difficult lately BUT I've finally found the motivation from deep inside my seedy core to provide collection updates to all of you.
All 3 of my loyal readers.
Nendoroid
Let's kick things off with (surprise!) more Hololive!
Amane Kanata in her plastic, chibi form. I really like Kanata. From her impressive sustain to her best drill impression, I've always found her quite entertaining. While I'd say Towa is my favorite Gen. 4 member, Kana-tan is not far behind. If you've got some time to kill, consider watching her hilarious introduction stream.
No frickin way! More Hololive??
Aki Rosenthal! The Splatoon champion! If you've never listened to Rose of the Lamp (that's a clickable link, btw) or シャルイース (another link, wink wink) you are missing out on some killer tunes. Renowned belly dancer Akirose is always a stunner on the stage and is now a stunning little plastic lump on my shelf.
With this one, I'm getting closer and closer to HoloNendoCompletion.
La+ Darknesss. Yes, my dark. La+ has always reminded me of a JP Gura. Still can't believe HoloX Nendos are hitting shelves before Gen. 5 (where the hell is my Polka Nendoroid?!) but I'm happy to have her as part of the ongoing attempt to collect every Hololive Nendoroid. Lord save me when they start making alternate outfit Nendos...
HOSHINO RUBY
Idols. 'nuff said. I'm into this shit.
If you've never watched, read, or experienced Oshi no Ko, I strongly urge you to check it out. Idol anime are a dime a dozen (I would know, I've seen most of 'em) but Oshi no Ko hits differently. Ruby is my favorite character in the whole series, and I may have even submitted her to our last AGS Wild Card season. She did not win. She didn't even do well, to be honest. Still the best girl in B Komachi - I'll fight you over this opinion.
Model Kits
My birthday was in June
(the 13th to be specific, I'll send you my wishlist for next year, just ask)
and after driving 2 hours just to play Chunithm for the first time, I took a detour to the Kinokuniya in Chicago. I stumbled across this Megami Device Sol Road Runner and if I'm being honest here, that one little curl of hair on her head is all it took to sell me on this kit.
Sol RR was promptly added to my growing backlog and pile o' death. Once I build the motivation and drive to work on kits, it's so over for her. It'll be fun to turn this into something unique and sol-ly mine.
A new sublime Megami Device sub-line! Buster Doll Knight!
I'm SO here for the Buster Dolls line up. They hit a great blend, mixing cute and robo. Some new colorways for this Buster Doll line have been announced recently, and while I do very much like the Darkness Claw variant, I'm excited to see what I can eventually do with this stock kit.
Buster Doll Gunner!
This is my personal favorite BD kit. The floppy dog ears are peak aesthetic. A Midnight Fang variant was announced recently, but I dig the original version more. I think these girls will look really cool once built, assembled, painted, and displayed together. I also have the BD Paladin kit waiting to be shipped, because, you know, I really need more unopened model kits to take up room in my house.
30 Minutes Sisters Siana Amarcia!
This was one of those "I'm placing an order through Buyee and should see what else I can cop for cheap before consolidation" - we've all been there. Shark girls resonate with me. For approximately $14 (this was not actually ¥3520), how could I pass this up? (don't actually answer that)
Thinking of turning this kit into a custom Gura. Shouldn't be terribly difficult.
Not a terrible haul for the last 2 months!
Sure, there may be 4 more model kits that will suck up my precious Zenless Zone Zero time, but I'll get to them... eventually.
I plan on propping up a new work desk within the next month, moving my crafting from the basement to the ground level, and I'm positive this will incentivize me to work on my model kits more. right? right?!
Honorable showcase to Mori Calliope's first full album, UnAlive, on vinyl, now in my possession.
I've been searching for this album for years and finally stumbled across a listing for dirt cheap. Thank you, random Mercari seller, for letting me obtain this for well under market value. The inside art of this jacket is so damn cool and I can't wait to share it here within the next few weeks.
Mori's newest album, Phantomime, drops next week. Once my physical copies of said album arrive, I plan on making a post going over all the physical Mori media I own. This is your incentive to continue visiting this website!
Minami Kotori - START:DASH Outfit
OK, this is a figure that did not arrive in June or July. In fact, she showed up on my doorstep just yesterday, but I'm so excited to own her that I can't not include her in this post.
There you are. 6 photos of my latest mail order bride Kotori.
I mentioned previously that I like Idol shit, and lately, Love Live has been my jam. And, man, let me say, being a fan of a 10+ year old property is great! Figures are so cheap! Big props to everyone that used to like Love Live and no longer does, listing their collections for pennies. I appreciate y'all. I'll relieve you of your Love Live clutter.
Kotori is the first Love Live figure I've picked up, but I also have the matching Honoka and Umi figures filtering through the mail system - they should be here by the end of August. Very pleased that Bandai made all 3 of the OG Love Live girls in their OG outfits (which Kotori designed, btw). START:DASH is a great song (if you're into this kind of shit) and I'm so happy to have plastic representations of where μ's started.
I'd link to the original version of START:DASH, but I'm having trouble finding a decent version. In it's absence, here's a link to some Hololive girlies performing the song. Enjoy! And check back for the totally inevitable Honoka, Umi, & Kotori figure reviews.
